Derby Mercury

Stockley Park is on the site of an old pit and the course is unlike any of the others used for the league. It consists mainly of farm tracks with only one twisty section and a particularly muddy track through a wood.

Cold foggy conditions greeted the riders and plenty of standing water provided liberal opportunities for mud and spray to cover the riders and their bikes.

In the Youth race Rosie Blount came 12th and Harry Crew 14th .

In the Senior race, Dave Smith came 21st , warming up before he defends his Midlands Vet 50 title at Thornbridge next weekend.

The íregularsí were grouped together in 28th to 31st with Dave Banks holding off Matt Crouch despite riding the last lap with a puncture. Pete Turner and Lee Blades finished in the next places with only about 20 seconds separating all 4 riders.

The fast straights suited Dave Luscombe better as he finished ahead of Hilary Johnson and Chris Blount completed the DMRC riders in the field of 88 finishers.
