Rosie rides REVOLUTION 25

1 Mile Dash (Before the crash!)

After the disappointment of being a reserve for the UK School Games in September, Rosie Blount got her chance to ride a high profile track meet last Saturday at REVOLUTION 25.

The regionally selected Futurestars were teamed up with elite track endurance riders, a sprinter and a guest professional rider in the new format REVOLUTION Championship. The East Midlands Futurestars were lucky enough to be part of the PACERS team including Steven Burke, Alex Dowsett, George Atkins and Pete Kennaugh and captained by Olympic gold medallist Jamie Staff. The team’s Pro Peloton rider, who will make periodic appearances, is David Millar.

Importantly, the PACERS jersey looked cool and went well with the Derby Mercury shorts!

PACERS Team Strip

Having arrived at 4 o’clock the tension rose as Rosie organised herself track centre, warmed up and awaited her first event. Before that though, there was a PARADE. All the riders were introduced as they did a lap of the track with their teams, soaking up the applause.

Through the evening Rosie rode 3 events, the Elimination (20 laps), 1 Mile Dash (6 laps) and the 5Km Points Race (20 laps) gaining points in both the team and individual Futurestars competition. In the Elimination race, she stayed in until about half way which she and the team were pleased with. In the 1 mile dash, however, she had a nasty crash in the final bend, sliding a good 15m from half way up the track. Although stunned she got patched up and bravely rode the Points race, understandably finishing toward the back.

At the end of the night the PACERS team had collected enough points to place 3rd overall and take 7 points forward to the next round on 5th December.

Rosie should be riding all the rounds this season (but these things are never certain). Dates below.

REVOLUTION 26 - 5th December
REVOLUTION 27 - 16th January
REVOLUTION 28 -  27th February
