Rosie (still 14) this week lined up for the two most major (and scary) events she has done, namely the Youth National Track Championships 2000m Pursuit and 10Km Scratch Race at Newport Velodrome.
On Tuesday Rosie came 12th out of 19 in the Under 16 Girls 2000m Pursuit recording a time of 2minutes 46.923seconds = 26.95mph Average. She set off fast and looked like qualifying for a top 8 ride off but faded and unfortunately clipped a couple of sponge blocks that stop you short cutting the bends. The top 12 times were very tight the winner being Emily Kay in 2minutes 36.995seconds.

On Wednesday Rosie rode her first ever Stratch Race, the Under 16 Girls 10Km. Rosie started conservatively trailing the peloton but after 10 of the 40 laps moved through the field to take turns at the front. The pace was high, no breaks got away but girls were being shelled out the back. Rosie stayed the distance but in the end the blistering pace of the sprint saw her slip to the back of the peloton who all finished in the same straight with a time of 13minutes 49seconds again a high 27.14mph Average. How many chaingangs go that fast?
